Condition vs Activity

In yesterday’s post I left you with the question: “To be or not to be…”  (from William Shakespeare’s play “Hamlet” written around 1600).  I proposed this question concerning the decision of how you view yourselves as a Christian.  According to the Bible in Colossians 2:10 “God has made you complete in Christ.” (Gods Word ©) Therefore the quiz involved looking inside to understand if you see yourself as “Being Complete” or as one who is “Becoming Complete?”

It really is a question that directs the entire focus of your Christian walk. With one answer you are working “toward becoming” all that God has provided for you through Jesus’ finished work.  With the other, you are spending your time learning how to actively participate in all that “you already are” in Christ.  Like I been stating all week, it can be a totally NEW way in which you live your life.

Did Christ do it all for us?  Was God’s plan of salvation really a masterful, complete work, or do we still need to help Him finish what Christ started 2000 years ago in order to finally become “complete?”  Humm… as I pondered this thought today, I realized that the way I answered that question could be pretty prideful on my behalf!”

Do me a favor… Don’t just jump to a conclusion here.  Take some time this weekend, put aside your background, traditions and personal thoughts and dig into what the Bible truly says about your REAL identity “In Christ.”

Scott Schang, the Senior Leader of The Promise Church in Woodland, Washington, says in his book “The Rhema Code,” that being “complete” is a condition of our faith, not an activity of it!  (page 73)

Have a GREAT weekend!  Stay tuned and keep asking yourself… “What great NEW things am I expecting today?”
