The Natural Source of Energy

In Colossians 1:29 the Apostle Paul talks of the energy of God that “so powerfully works in me.” (NIV)  It is interesting to note that the thought behind this power (or “might” as other translations put it) is more toward the sense of peace or rest than from mighty signs and wonders and other showy demonstrations of the power of God.  Strong’s denotes that this energy that works in us instrumentally “is a relation of rest.”  It is the constancy of His love and strength that undergirds all that we do on a daily bases.

It’s that unexplainable energy in me that helps me to get up off couch at night at times when I feel totally spent physically, mentally and emotionally, to do the dishes and help my wife get ready for bed, or to get up in the morning after very few hours of sleep and start the daily process all over again.  It is that ability that comes from deep inside to laugh when things do not look very promising in the natural.  It is that strength that causes one to trust the truth of God’s Word over what the doctors or physical evidence seems to be screaming in your face.
For many it is the ability to get up on a Monday morning and go to work or school.  For others it is the knack to be able to share an encouraging word when everyone else around you is down.  It is the inside energy or force that helps parents to be parents and for people to succeed where others have failed.  It is the mystery of God “which is Christ in you the hope of glory.” (Colossians 1:27 KJV)
God’s energy that works mightily in us is the supernatural force of God that helps us to joyfully be all that He desires us to be.  And you know what?  When you became a Christian it came as part of the salvation package!  It is there in you for you to depend on.  So… take advantage of that power or energy working in you this day!  EXPECT His best as you go forth today.  Don’t plan on being tired, dejected or sad.  You have the ability of God in you to go beyond the dictates of the situations that you encounter each day!
Then when people ask what’s going on with you… Tell ‘em!  Have a great day.  Stay in tune to His Word and keep asking yourself… “What am I expecting today?”
