Easter Monday

Easter Monday is celebrated as a holiday in many countries with strong Roman Catholic or Orthodox cultures across the globe and even within some states and cities in the USA.  The reason behind the events of the day seem to vary from area to area.  Some are Christian in their origin while others are not as they follow traditions that have been passed down through the generations.

As far as I can see, the bible does not give any evidence of anything significant that happened the day after Jesus’ resurrection… or so I thought until I reread a few portions of scripture from the books of Luke and Acts!  In both of these written records, Luke makes a definite point in declaring, without a doubt, that Jesus WAS ALIVE by providing “convincing evidence” (Acts 1:3 God’s Word ©) over the forty days that He spend in many different situations and locations with His disciples after His death, burial and resurrection.
Now this may not point specifically to an Easter Monday tradition, but it does tell of an all-important foundational truth that all of us need to embrace.  This truth being that JESUS IS VERY MUCH ALIVE TODAY!  That is what sets Christianity apart from any other religion on the planet.  John Darby in his Synopsis commentary stated that “Their (the disciples and all Christians in general) life and their service are (now) to be formed and guided in view of His resurrection – a truth which they had irrefragable proofs.”
Like the words of the song we used to sing in Children’s Church as the kids boldly declared:

 “He’s alive, alive, alive forevermore
My Jesus is alive, alive forever more
  Alive, alive, alive forevermore
  My Jesus is alive

  Sing Alleluia,
  Sing Alleluia
  My Jesus is alive forevermore

  Sing Alleluia,
  Sing Alleluia
My Jesus is alive!” (writer unknown)

He is alive and seated now at the right hand of God in the place of authority overseeing His will and testament – ie; The New Testament – The living and breathing Word of God that governs our lives and brings life to those in the clutches of the enemy of our souls.
I think that is what Easter Monday is all about.  After remembering and celebrating the startling and magnificent happenings of Easter Sunday that occurred over 2000 years ago, most of us go back to our normal routines on Monday.  But it would do us a great benefit if we took with us into the year ahead the remembrance that He IS STILL ALIVE TODAY and that everything that He provided for us by His cross, resurrection and seating at the right hand of God is still there for us as well as for everyone we come into contact with in each of our worlds!
So with thoughts of Easter still fresh in their minds, go out and tell your world the Good News of Jesus Christ!  Celebrate Easter Monday and then Tuesday and Wednesday and beyond by being the bearer of His Light and of His Life!  It changed your life, why not let it influence someone else’s as well.  You know… The two disciples on the road to Emmaus probably didn’t recognize Jesus because they thought that He was dead!  There are still a whole lot of individuals out there who think the same.  They just need to be told the truth and then allow the knowledge and personal acceptance of the living Son of God to literally change their lives!
Have a great week.  Stay in tune to His Word, and keep asking yourself… “What Good News am I expecting To TELL Someone today?”
