I have never been one to wear flashy t-shirts or hats with
funny sayings or pictures on them. If I
wear one with a logo or name on it, it is usually a school, a team or company
that I have some association with. I
don’t want to be putting my stamp or seal of approval on something that I might
not agree with! And I bet you that John
the Baptist would say the same thing. I
would imagine that if his designer tunics had any words or logos on them, that
they would say Jesus or portray a simple cross.
In John 3:30 John told another group that came to question
him about his role in God’s master plan of things that “I have accepted what that person (Jesus) said, and I have affirmed
that God is truthful.” (God’s Word ©) The King James Version says that “He that hath received his testimony
(Jesus’) hath set his seal that God is true.” Strong’s relates that to “set his seal” means for an individual “to stamp with a signet or private mark.” Albert Barnes in his Notes on the Bible
defines this as “to pledge our veracity, (conformity
or behavior in such a way as to demonstrate) that it is true or fact.” The Merriam-Webster dictionary says that this
is the type of action that is in accordance with some specified standard or
authority.
In other words, it is not just a logo on a t-shirt or hat
that you stand behind, but a life whose very actions both day and night,
whether in public or alone, is stamped with the attitude, words and physical
actions of Christ! John 3:20 infers that
people in the world tend to stay away from people who have the light because
they don’t want to be exposed. It is
like they are expecting to be criticized or judged by those of us who believe
in Christ. So why not then, do the UNEXPECTED and act in love instead of
according to what they expect!
Let that SEAL of
Christ… that is your life, shine
brightly and actively before and toward them!
Let them know that “whoever
accepts and trusts the Son gets in on everything, life complete and forever!” (John 3:33 Message Bible) Now that’s a STAMP I want to freely mark others with… wouldn’t you agree! Keep having a positive week. Stay in tune to His Word, and keep asking
yourself… “What am I expecting today?”
