Oh, What A Beautiful Morning!

* Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'

There's a bright golden haze on the meadow,
There's a bright golden haze on the meadow,
The corn is as high as an elephant's eye,
An' it looks like its climbin' clear up to the sky.

Chorus
Oh what a beautiful morning,
Oh what a beautiful day,
I've got a wonderful feeling,
Everything's going my way.

All the cattle are standing like statues,
All the cattle are standing like statues,
They don't turn their heads as they see me ride by.
But a little brown mav'rick is winking her eye.

Chorus

All the sounds of the earth are like music,
All the sounds of the earth are like music,
The breeze is so busy it don't miss a tree,
And an ol' Weepin' Willer is laughin' at me.

Repeat chorus

A couple of days ago I wrote about how my wife and I are in such a place that “sometimes even the smallest scent of a victory during the day can send us into a shouting session of praise, worship and thanksgiving to our Heavenly Father.”  (See 10/11/11 “Total Dependence”)  This morning was one of those times.  Right after arising from the night’s slumber, I stepped out onto the kitchen patio with the pooch and was instantly captivated by the cool, crisp morning and the beauty that poured in through all of my senses.  It was like the Lord was calling me out because He wanted to show me something.

So, I quickly went inside, grabbed the garbage bag from under the sink as well as my camera and called up to my wife informing her that I would be right back.  As I walked down the little lane that meanders through the neighboring cluster homes on the way to the well hidden refuge receptacles, I took the time to notice all the “little things” that were strutting their stuff as they reflected the rising sun’s first rays as it filtered through the trees.

The little dew splashed spider webs that had been crafted on the bushes throughout the night, the multicolored leaves that drifted down through the air, the streaming sun light peeking over a second story window along the way, and the fragrance of fall that tints the atmosphere this time of year.  A tall small grove of redwoods struck my fancy as I stopped and enjoyed their elegance.  I think that the Coast Redwood has to be my all time favorite of all the trees that God has created.  There is just something majestic about their structure and their height that seems to touch the clouds along with the fallen leaves and branches that carpet the ground around them.

Then I noticed the stillness of the morning that surrounded me.  A single bird occasionally chirping his morning song, my footsteps as I padded up and down the pathway, the artificial shutter click emanating from my digital camera as I snapped a dozen or so photos, and even the drone of a distant aircraft as it soared across the lightly clouded skies.  It was all so wonderful.  As I returned to my home I could not help myself in speaking out words of praise and thanksgiving to our heavenly Father.  He is so good to us.  He has given us the beauty of nature to enjoy every minute of the day!

A little while later as I sat at breakfast with my wife, I began to share with her everything that I had experienced.  Without a second thought I began to think about God’s goodness and found myself singing “Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day…”  Sounds kind of corny doesn’t it?  But that’s the way it happened!

Psalm 5:3 says “My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning shall I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.” (King James Version)  When’s the last time you went outside in the quiet of the morning and looked up and around at all the beautiful things that God created just for you to enjoy?  You might be surprised at the awesome sights that God has placed right in your own neighborhood… things that you probably never noticed before.

Take some time as soon as you can to enjoy the “little things.”  Maybe you’ll even discover that it really is a beautiful morning and that:

All the sounds of the earth are like music,
The breeze is so busy it don't miss a tree,
And an ol' Weepin' Willer is laughin' at me.

Have a great day, stayed tuned and keep asking yourself… “What Beautiful Things am I expecting to SEE, HEAR and FEEL today?”
